EL PASO, TX — The El Paso Museum of Art (EPMA) invites the community to a new exhibition, Contemporary ceramics: Mata Ortizon view until June 5.

Contemporary Ceramics explores Mata Ortiz’s distinctive pottery style that combines tradition with modern innovation. Led by works by renowned potter Juan Quezada, the exhibition features more than 40 potters of modern artistic expression who pay homage to the history of Casas Grandes and Paquimé pottery.

“Mata Ortiz ceramics has evolved from its pre-Hispanic roots into a style that fully embraces modern innovation,” said Ben Fyffe, General Manager of Cultural Affairs and Leisure.

The exhibition will include the following family events:

· Guided tour of the El Paso Archeology Museum with museum director Jeff Rommey at noon on March 18

· Atelier Sgraffite in collaboration with Galerie Flor de Barro on May 12 and 13
