Reception of the Student Art Exhibition at the Museum of Ceramics | News, Sports, Jobs

The public is invited to attend an opening reception at the Ceramics Museum for its student art exhibit at 6 p.m. tonight. Participating local artists include Christa McIntosh, Judy Fannin, Cindy Hoffrichter, Jackie Brice, Melissa Nentwick, Karen Kosola, Nancy Davidson, Deborah Stewart, Linda White, Ki Trelaine, Jeanie Gordon and Walter Kernaich. Musician Doug Smith will perform and refreshments will be served. Admission is by donation. Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the Lady Slippers Museum fundraising game raffle.

The Ceramics Museum is proud of its Fine Arts program and its students. Since 2019, the Museum has regularly offered classes and workshops in painting, drawing, mixed media, collage and greeting cards to students of all ages and levels. Moreover, the “Inspiration Series” the programs provided unique combinations of educational lectures on ceramic designers with hands-on related art projects. Museum director Susan Weaver and artist Sheri LIebschner have enjoyed working on these programs and all “Art at the MoC” projects.

The Ceramics Museum’s Fine Arts program was also supported by members of the fundraising organization Lady Slippers. The Lady Slippers not only attend classes, they are also responsible for the completion of the Museum’s magnificent exterior mural by local artist Christopher Leeper.

East Liverpool has a long history of fine artists and an active artistic community. “Art at the MoC” represents a renewal of this heritage.
