Collection of animal skins subject to the authorization of the commissioner

The government has made the commissioner’s and deputy commissioner’s permits mandatory for collecting animal skins on Eid-ul-Azha, ARY News reported.

According to the details, the government has issued guidelines for the collection of animal skins on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. No person or organization could collect animal skins without the permission of the commissioner and deputy commissioner.

The guideline issued by the government advised people not to donate/sell animal skins to prohibited outfits. The establishment of camps and the display of banners for the collection of skins were prohibited.

The directive stated that anyone collecting animal skins without permission would face legal action.

Meanwhile, on June 21, at least nine trucks, carrying sacrificial animals with lumpy skin disease (LSD), were turned away from the Karachi cattle market.

According to the details, the market administration is implementing relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent animals – with skin diseases – from entering the livestock market.

Veterinarians posted at the entrance to Asia’s largest cattle market inspect the animals brought to market. Meanwhile, the administration claimed that no cases of lumpy skin disease have been reported so far in the livestock market.
